Sunsets and Fairy Dust
Canada is by far having the most beautiful sunsets i have ever seen in my live. I have to admit I´m not that old and there are more to come but especially Montreal is a good place to experience beautiful ones. The mountain seems to keep the clouds very low so that it always looks dramatic and spectacular! When it´s dark and the sky is full of rain clouds which reflecting the city lights, it almost looks like there is a security shield or fairy dust above us. Leaving work late particulary if it´s raining isn´t the most cheerful thing i can imagine but the fairy dust makes me feel happy and watching these green reflections is just too beautiful!
infinite snow and coldness
One thing which is totally different from what I´ve ever experienced before is the never ending winter in Montreal. It is so unbelievable that i don´t even know what describes it the best. It´s quite possible that there are a few days which are “kind of ” mild but it is literally freezing cold all the time and at nights the city turns into an ice land. Everything looks like you are living in a freezer. The more you hope that it will be over soon, there´ll be a snow storm, to show that actually spring is not going to come soon, for sure! Once i missed my bus and had to go home, that almost made me cry and my legs were burned of coldness for the next 2 days. Worth mentioning: I´ve never missed my bus again :) That winters in Canada are awful cold is not a secret but concerning my love for snow I expected myself to be more persevering but obviously it was too much for me as a north german girl who is used to live in a “10 °C and rain all year long” environment.
